Malawi

International treaty guarantees international ownership of this slab of ice, which means you shouldn’t expect to find any one language spoke here. We’d offer up percentages of how many speak this language or that, but there’s no permanent population either. The number of those in residence fluctuates, from 4,000 in the summer to a measly 1,000 in the winter. That’s because the Antarctic winter is basically what people are referring to when they say, “When hell freezes over.” Don’t let the fact that penguins are found in Antarctica fool you. They might be cute, they might be cuddly, but they’re also destined by evolution to enjoy sub-freezing temperatures and an ozone hole that lets in more solar radiation during the summer months than the equator receives in an equivalent period. Still want to go? You’ll be coming cruise ship or research vessel. Flyovers of the continent from Australia are more affordable, but don’t think expect your pilot to land for your sightseeing pleasure!
