Shaun White Soars to Snowboarding Gold

Remember The Flying Tomato? ("The Flying Tomato McTwists His Way to the Top" and "Behind the US Open") Well, he's dazzled once again, this time at the Olympics in Torino, Italy: "White Soars to Snowboarding Gold".
"The Flying Tomato got his gold... Shaun White gave the United States its second gold medal in Turin, winning the snowboarding halfpipe competition... Redheaded snowboarding superstar Shaun White punked the competition on the halfpipe Sunday, beating out teammate Danny Kass to win the Olympic gold medal that so many expected him to get."
Except for a brief reflection, "Turin, Italy: Even More After the Olympics", I've steered clear of discussing the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy for no particular reason except that I lament not being able to attend. Of course there are plenty of reasons that I'd love to have been able to be at the Olympics, but high on the list would certainly have been the opportunity to watch Il Pomodoro Volante (White's Italian nickname) in the halfpipe. Fellow US snowboarding competitor, Danny Kass, explains:
"Shaun is probably one of the most amazing riders in the sport and it's just so amazing to be next to him," Kass said. "It's just a great feeling. He's still pushing the sport."
